Yoga for Managing Chronic Pain
A four week series starting 10/3 and ending 10/24. According to a recent NIH study, one in five adults in the US experienced chronic pain in the last year, sometimes with no discernible cause. In this special four-part series we will work with the full toolkit of yoga to help students experience profound relaxation at different levels of being, and cultivate the attitude of the witness to help better manage chronic pain. We will work with healing mantras, asanas (physical postures) to balance and channel the energies of the body to promote healing, pranayama (breath practices) to balance the nervous system, and yoga nidra and meditation to promote relaxation and learning to witness with detachment in order to develop the potential to greatly reduce the perception of pain and the negative thoughts and emotions associated with it.
