I’ve been thinking about what I wanted to write about next. A lot has happened since we celebrated our Grand Opening on February 8th, just 2 weeks ago. So many people have walked through the door, some curious, some with intent, and some following our fabulous teachers. It has been two weeks of discovering who we are and what we can provide to the students in the Seattle community.
The beginning schedule has been published and it includes a little bit of everything so that the community can discover what type of movement will bring joy to their bodies. We are here to help you discover the joy of movement, no matter whether that means through yoga, dancing, stretching, lifting, jumping, or many other forms. We have something for everyone, even those compelled to stay in a chair to protect knees or the back. Our teachers listen to their students and help to modify and adapt the movement to those in the class. They are truly compassionate and talented teachers. I’m sure Melissa, our Zumba instructor, didn’t expect to have the class she did on Saturday, and she received such a nice compliment that it was the best Zumba class ever attended. Her bright smile and warm demeanor helped everyone believe that they could dance and move their body with such joy, and oh, how they did. The ‘Join the Resistance’ class was packed and Denise gave everyone a great resistance band workout. It was fun to see so many people enjoying the class and filling the space with energy.
We will be adding a few more classes very soon. Pilates is coming, Barre workouts, more Feldenkrais, and Resistance training. Watch the schedule for new additions. If you want to see something, please let us know both the time preference, and what it is and we’ll see if we can make it happen. You can use the ‘Contact Us’ page to provide feedback.
We’ve also been discovering our computer system and working out all the kinks. It’s finally getting the long awaited use that it deserves. What comes with that is a few surprises. The hope is that it will become very easy for people to sign-up online before class. We are happy to help you through the experience though as each time we discover something to change to make it easier. Please keep the feedback coming.
Finally, something fun to share in self-discovery, one of my wonderful students recently went to Hawaii and took a short practice with him to do on the beach. Scott was one of my first students, and one who has such faith in me and this studio to support this community. He embodies determination, dedication, and sheer joy! Thanks to Scott for sharing his picture of devine practice in Hawaii!
