Do this for you! You deserve it! Why not start early on a forming a healthy habit, mindful meditation using mantra. It takes 2 weeks to make or brake a habit so we are starting there. I’ve been doing mantra meditation every day for the last 3.5 years and I can tell you that it makes a huge difference in my overall equanimity. Have you ever gotten stuck in a toboggan run of rumination and something in the past or future? Before you know it, time has slipped by and your nerves are on end. Once you get going on a mantra meditation, it sort of takes a fork in the toboggan run because you mind will naturally go to the deepest groove for comfort and pacification. That’s why repeating a mantra several times over a sustained period of time helps to lay down the foundation for breaking our of negative thinking patterns that hijack your daily life. A mantra meditation practice doesn’t have to be complex or time consuming, in fact making it easy so that it really gets into your brain like one of those songs that you just can’t stop singing. I’ve created a recording of a mantra that is for compassion both self compassion and directed compassion. My hope is that you will take this opportunity to practice for 3 minutes a day for 2 weeks using the recording and journal to record your experience. The recording takes you through 21 repetitions of the mantra: Tara, Tuttare, Ture Soha. This mantra is non-denominational. Once you complete 2 weeks, you can either send me a picture of your journal (firstname.lastname@example.org) or just send me an email and tell me about your experience. In return, you will receive a 21 bead mala that you can use to continue your practice for up to 60 days. Most targeted mantra practices are done for 60 days at least.
