Meet Beth Dayo, former owner of Be Pilates in West Seattle

Since a young age, I cared about good health in an upbringing where health was not a priority. Finding Pilates was an unexpected and instant match. Since beginning teaching in 2006, I have continuously lost myself in the work and the client I was with. It has only gotten better and better, and adding Yoga and meditation brought about the well-rounded perspective I share with clients today.

I was certified in Pilates with Trent McEntire in 2006 and as a master teacher in 2011. I have studied, taught and practiced the original Joseph Pilates texts and exercises since 2014. After establishing my own yoga practice in 2018, I studied Iyengar yoga directly and through Richard Schachtel in 2020. Also Iyengar’s teachers Krishnamacharya and TKV Desikachar.

Since 2012, I’ve extensively studied Buddhism and a variety of meditation practices and other eastern philosophies and their proliferators, J. Krishnamurti, Mooji, Sadhguru, Shantideva, Alan Watts, Stephen Batchelor, Bhikku Bodhi are among my favorites. These reflect the main components that have informed my personal practice and the awareness I guide each client to awaken to. I am a forever learner and the list of authors and topics I’ve delved into is far too many to list and always growing. Ultimately my teaching has been a science of working with others to produce consistent results, YOU are my true teacher, and having done that, I share it all with joy and continue to hone the art everyday!

It is a joy to share a skill with people that they can own and perfect to the level they need or desire. To witness them discover the power of their awareness and the seemingly magical nature of their own power harnessed. Often I’m told that I am magic, but really I just get to show you that YOU ARE!!
