Building your Life on a Rock

The Unshakeable Truths of Inner Transformation

The concept of building your house upon a rock, as mentioned in the Bible, is a powerful metaphor that transcends religious boundaries. Regardless of one's faith or beliefs, the idea of a solid foundation resonates with everyone. It signifies the importance of stability, reliability, and truth in our lives. Just like a house built on shifting sands is bound to collapse, a life built on uncertainty and falsehoods is prone to crumble.

Truth, as a fundamental concept, holds a special place in our world. It is a delicate matter because it often appears to change over time. However, there are certain truths that are immutable and unassailable. These fundamental truths, even when extracted from religious texts or philosophical treatises, withstand scrutiny and cannot be disproven.

The term "REAL truth" may seem redundant, but it serves a purpose. When we delve deeper into the subject, we realize that there are layers of truth. The metaphorical truth of building a house on a rock represents a deeper, underlying truth that can never be invalidated. This deeper truth is not affected by variables or hypothetical situations. It exists independently, beyond the reach of debate or disagreement.

So, what is the REAL truth behind this metaphor? The biblical reference to building a house on a rock extends beyond literal construction. It encompasses our lives as individuals, encompassing our bodies and the decisions we make. If we consider our lives as the house we construct, what should be the rock on which we build it? How can each person build such different lives, different bodies, different minds but each do so on a solid foundation?

The foundation or rock within each of us, is our own awareness. We have a built in system that notifies us which way to go. Yet because of our societal priorities, many of these quieter voices have been shut out or vetoed throughout our lives. You’re not alone if you’ve not listened to yourself only later to wish you had, countless times. You are not alone if you are in this moment not listening to yourself and struggling and suffering through a life that is not of your making, not of your liking, one that doesn’t feed your soul.

In order to get through all the noise that drowns that voice out, we must get quiet. Getting quiet sounds simple and it is, but there is more to it. You also must go through a process of quieting the noises that do not willingly settle. These noises can be bodily pains and tensions. They can be chronic anxieties. They can be habits of complaining, or reacting to negative stimulus with anger. We can work on the mind, change it. We can work on the body, change it. Yet in order to really transform you must work on both and continue to let them be an interplay of change that is continual and long-lasting. Hence a true transformation.

Transformation takes time. Even when we recognize big moments that we can demarcate our lives with, the truth is it was always a continual process. Everything the preceeded the change went into creating it. When you begin learning a process of listening to your body and mind, you can be assured you’re going to experience lasting change. Your first lesson with Beth will highlight the power of that process to the point you will know you’re on the right path. From that moment, it is simply the practice of staying on that path and change is inevitable. Health, healing, wellbeing, peace, ease, whatever it is that your life needs will be an outcome.
